Cyclones Square Off Against The Kinucks
Kincardine comes to town for a chance to redeem themselves after participating in the Roy Beechey Tournament in Tilsonburg last weekend and not being able to post a win on the scoreboard.  Every encounter with the Kinucks means that in order to compete, you always need to play a disciplined game, and one thing Kincardine never does, is give up.

The speed of play for most of the 1st period was indeed quick, however, Nich and Nic helped keep the Kincardine scoring chances to only 3 shots on net.  With only 3:06 let in the 1st, it was Keegan doing his best Patric Hornqvist impersonation and somehow gets the puck slid in past the Kincardine goalie to give Listowel the early lead.

At 13:24, early in the 2nd, Kincardine ties it up, and with Listowel finding themselves 2-men down, the Kinucks take the opportunity to take a 2-1 lead at 11:16.  With Listowel pouring on the pressure in Kincardine’s zone, a clearing attempt caroms off of Chet, which redirects the puck into the net.  Chet’s goal celebration is delayed for a bit as he lies on the ice for a brief moment to recuperate from the blow of the puck.

Conner, Dustin, and Ethan keep trying to build on the momentum swing of the game, but the Kincardine’s forwards continue their tireless back-checking.  Then, with under 4 minutes left in the 2nd, Kincardine takes a 3-2 lead in an attempt to take back control of the game.  Going into the 2nd intermission down by a late goal can leave a knot in your stomach, but Sam from behind the net passes the puck right onto Chet’s stick and there it is, the equalizer just before the end of the 2nd.  That should change the coach’s speech between periods just a bit.

Taytt and Carter keep pushing the play forward in the 3rd, only to be disrupted continuously by the Kincardine defence.  Tied up at 3-3, Colin and Cullen know play has to be tighter in their end, and JA and JD are far from giving up on scoring one from the point.  With 8 minutes remaining, Daniel finds, you guessed it, Chet and he puts Listowel up 4-3 with a Hat Trick.  In the stands, girls are screaming, and babies are crying celebrating Chet’s feat.  The moment takes me back to when I was the captain of the chess team.  Come to mention it, there were never any girls cheering in the stands, and the crying was usually done by anyone who lost a chess match while their mom was watching, so I guess it really shouldn’t take me back there.  I digress. As the clock ticks, Kincardine pulls their goalie, but Lucas stands tall and fights off the barrage of shots and helps the team pull out the win.  Even as the final buzzer sounds, a shot from the point goes whizzing past Lucas’s head, which serves as a friendly reminder that Kincardine will be ready for the re-match.
