Red Edges Predators
Listowel Atom Red started their three-game weekend with a 2-1 win over the Central Perth Predators on Friday.
After playing scoreless pair of periods, the Predators got on the board first with an early third period tally.
The home squad's lead was short lived though, as Owen Alexander circled high in the offensive zone before beating the netminder with a solid wrist shot.
With 5:05 left in regulation, Oliver Hershey made a mad dash from his own end and put the game-winning goal into the top-right corner of the net.
Listowel goalie Ryan Reath continued to shrink his goals against average for the year as he came up with some solid saves, especially in the early going.
Helping him keep the crease clean were defensemen Warner Hurst, Lucas McLeod and Brynlee Binning.
The remaining forwards, Noah Hiemstra, Ruby Hillier, Linc Lannin, Logan Card, Blake McTavish and Kington Powell, came close on several occasions but the Predators tenders were both on top of their game.
While they did enough to earn the W, Red is going to need to up their game as Saturday's test is the Hanover Falcons. Puck drop at SKMC is set for 4:15 pm.
