U9 Reps sweep weekend series with Kincardine!
This weekend saw the U9 reps faced with their first pressure packed test of the season loaded with possible playoff elimination round ramifications as they squared off against the always difficult Kincardine Kinucks.

Game 1 on Saturday afternoon saw the Cyclones defending the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex and they were shorthanded in doing so with Seth Cameron and Hudson Williams both unable to play.  Early into the game it was clear that both goalies came to play as they made multiple big saves and the first period ended in a 0-0 tie.  Midway through the second, ferocious forechecking by the line of Gray Parkhouse, Lewis Nichol and Maddox Birk finally broke the ice when Parkhouse pounced on a loose puck and managed to slip it past the Kincardine goalie to give the Cycs a 1-0 lead.  As expected, Kincardine came out hard in the final frame and managed to get a rare shot past razor sharp Listowel goalie Declan McArthur tying the game at 1.  The game went back and forth with both goalies holding their respective forts until the speedy Luke Strickler got loose on a breakaway from centre and was able to find the back of the net giving the home side the tiebreaker.  The boys the went into shut down mode and preserved a hard fought win on home ice.

Game 2 of the weekend saw our Cyclones head to Tiverton for a rematch with the Kinucks who were bound to be looking to get revenge from the previous days loss in Listowel.  This game saw the return of Hudson Williams but the boys were still shorthanded with Seth Cameron still on the shelf.  Hudson was reunited with Ripken Harrison and Ian Magee and they must have been happy to be back together as Magee opened the scoring 2 minutes in with a beautifully set up goal from the slot by his line mates Harrison and Williams.  A similar goaltending battle to the first game ensued as the teams traded chances but nothing got past until early in the second when Harrison picked up his second point of the day on a great feed from Gray Parkhouse who had moved back to the point for this matchup.  Matty Williams, Kaden Neves and Max Zilliax joined Parkhouse on the blueline and were a force all weekend.  Pair the stingy defense with another rock solid performance in net by Declan McArthur who recorded his second shutout of the playoffs and the Cycs came away with another big win, solidifying 2nd spot in pool B with 4 wins and 1 loss.

The boys are back in action this week with a trip to Wingham  on Thursday to square off against the Ironmen.
