WOAA U9 REP CHAMPS!!!!!
The Listowel Cyclones U9 Reps capped off their season with a thrilling 3-2 OT victory to capture the WOAA U9 Rep Championship!!!

As expected game 2 was another great battle as the Listowel Cyclones U9 Reps took on the Walkerton Capitals in the WOAA U9 Rep Championships.  For most of the first period it was a back and forth game with neither team wanting to give up the opening goal.  Late in the period Luke Strickler won a puck battle in the corner and found Maddox Birk alone in the slot.  Birk wired it home to give the home team a 1-0 lead at the end of the opening period.

The second period was similar to the first as these two evenly matched teams went back and forth, neither team allowing the other to gain any real momentum.  It was Birk again though midway through the period after Lewis Nichol came away from a corner battle with the puck and found his linemate alone in the slot.  Birk made no mistake and fired his 2nd of the game past the goalie to give the Cycs a 2-0 lead heading into the final period.

As expected from any great team, the Capitals didn't quit and worked hard in the Cycs zone to score 5 minutes in and again with 2 minutes left to tie to score at 2 and send the game to overtime.  We asked you to fill the barn and you didn't disappoint with a huge crowd on hand to see what had shaped up to be an epic battle between two great teams.  In OT it was defenceman Gray Parkhouse who made a great play at the Listowel blue line to block a pass and get by the Walkerton defence.  Parkhouse carried the puck into the zone with a Capital right on him, he took the puck hard to the net and his shot was deflected wide.  Always tenacious on the puck, Parkhouse grabbed it behind the net and slid it out front to a wide open Hudson Williams who made no mistake and buried it in the back of the net to clinch the Championship for the Cycs!!!  Gloves and sticks flew everywhere as the boys piled on each other celebrating!!!

Even though they didn't hit the scoresheet forwards Ian Magee and Ripken Harrison along with defencemen Matty Williams, Seth Cameron, Kaden Neves and Max Zilliax played their hearts out in front of their always solid goalie Declan McArthur.  Hats off to everyone including the Walkerton Capitals on a great series and a great season!!!

This team was a pleasure to be around all year and it was great to see them get rewarded for all their hard work and dedication, well done boys!!!!!
