U9 Reps win tight battle with Huron Bruce Blizzard
The Listowel Cyclones U9 Reps travelled to Ripley on Saturday to play a much improved Huron Bruce Blizzard team.  It was a tightly contested game and our boys managed to come away with a 4-2 victory to continue their five game winning streak.

The Cyclones came out quickly in this one scoring 40 seconds into the game as Gray Parkhouse connected on a wrist shot from the point assisted by Max Zilliax and Ripken Harrison.  If our boys thought it was going to be an easy game like the last time these two teams played they quickly learned that was not going be the case as the Blizzard answered back 40 seconds later tying it up at one.  The first period ended knotted at a goal a piece with Listowel carrying most of the play in the Huron Bruce end.

The second period continued to see the Cyclones keep the puck in the Blizzard end but unable to connect.  Scoring chances were generated in bunches but the boys struggled to get pucks on net.  Lewis Nichol finally broke the tie as he took the puck from the corner hard to the net after cycling downlow with Maddox Birk and Parkhouse.  The period would end with the Cycs taking a 2-1 lead into the final frame.

The Blizzard didn't get many chances but had a very talented forward that didn't need much room to do damage and did so again early into the 3rd, scoring on a goal mouth scramble and tying the game at 2.  This seemed to get the boys going as Hudson Williams responded for the Cycs a mere 20 seconds later set up by Harrison and Zilliax to regain the lead.  Luke Strickler would add an insurance maker late in the game set up by a great pass from the point by Kaden Neves.

Centreman Ian Magee played a strong game, forechecking hard and creating chances for his line mates while blueliners Seth Cameron and Matty Williams continued their solid play keeping pucks deep and slowing down the opposition forwards as they try to exit their zone.

Goalie Declan McArthur wasn't tested much but fought off a couple scoring chances for the Blizzard that could have turned the momentum against the Cyclones.

Our thoughts go out to the young Blizzard player that was injured in the first period and didn't return, we wish him a speedy recovery!!

The Cyclones recent string of wins see them with twelve points and tied in the standings with the Saugeen Shores Storm.  This sets up great as the two teams are scheduled to square off on Thursday evening at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex.  This game will determine who gets first place in the round robin portion of the playoffs and is sure to be a great tilt!!
