Novice Local League, U9, 2011-2012 (Listowel Minor Hockey Association)

Well the season is over and what a terrific finish.  The final round of the playoffs began with a tough overtime loss on the Monday night.  The kids played great but just could not beat the Wingham keeper.  In game #2 vs Wingham, the team knew it needed to win to keep their dreams of a Championship alive as Wingham had already beat Goderich in both their games.  The kids played hard and after trading goals through regulation, we were again heading to overtime.  Nine minutes of overtime solved nothing but then in the final minute and us needing a win, Ty got the puck by the defense and Maddox ...

The team finished the opening round of the playoffs the same way it began (just no more overtime needed) with 4 strong performances and 4 more wins.  After getting by Howick 8-0 we hosted Durham on the Friday night.  Another exciting and close game had us coming out on top 3-1. 

What excitement the kids provided this weekend during their first two playoff games. Playoffs started on Friday night vs Minto.  We split the two games we played vs them during the season and this game was back and forth again.  Each team would manage to score only one during the 3 periods of play.  The goalies were keeping everything out with the Minto goalie stopping many of the great chances the kids generated. This meant overtime was needed....

Another weekend is in the books.  It started on Friday night vs Minto.  This team had beat us previously and it was obvious from the start that the kids were not going to let that happen again.  The team worked hard and built a 5-1 lead before letting up a little in the latter part of the game but the kids held on for a great 6-4 victory. The kids were back at it again at 8am Saturday morning at the Hanover tournament.

The past couple of weeks we have seen the team really start to come together.  Some great positional play has lead to some great games being played by the kids. During the last two weeks, we saw the team have a record of 2 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie. First off after the Clifford tournament ....
