Peewee AE Tame the Wildcats
Thursday night the Peewee AE Cyclones braved the weather to travel to Monkton for a game against the Elma-Logan Wildcats.

The Wildcats took an early lead when, at 7:47, they slid one past Lucas on a breakaway.  Only a few seconds later the Wildcats handed the Cyclones a power play on a high-sticking call.  The Cycs struggled to get shots off while the clock ran down.  Owen and Kris battled the Wildcats for possession of the puck throughout the first period until, finally, at 2:12, Freshie (assisted by Smitty) sneaked one under the pad of the Wildcat goalie.  The first would end in a 1-1 tie with a Wildcat in the penalty box on a hooking call.

The second started with the Cyclones on the PP and would see shots taken, but the boys just couldn't find the mesh.  Fortunately, neither could the Wildcats!  Then, at 5:40, Mad Dog made a laser beam pass to Freshie who was positioned perfectly to make the goal and pull ahead of the Wildcats.  The second period continued with Justin and Seth battling with the Wildcats for possession and Brayden and Liam working hard to clear the puck; the period would end 2-1 in favor of the Cyclones.

Less than three minutes into the third, another power play would come and go for the Cyclones.  Only seconds after returning to full strength, despite Connor and Bo's efforts to protect the house, the Cyclones gave up a goal to the Wildcats, tying the score 2-2.  But two minutes later, Jacob received a pass from Johnny and fired one past the Wildcat goalie to pull ahead 3-2.  In the final seconds of the game, the Wildcats ended up in the box on a tripping call, giving the Cyclones their fourth power play of the game.  With multiple shots taken, it was Maddox who managed to get the insurance goal (assisted by Freshie and Smitty) with four seconds left.

Great effort by all players.  Standout plays defensively by Matt and equally strong effort from Nick on the forecheck.
